COURSE 04
Power Cables – Testing, Diagnostics & Fault Location
MV/HV cable theory, testing, diagnostics and practical fault location methods.
COURSE OVERVIEW
A practical course built around the work.
Covers the theory of MV/HV cable systems, insulation behaviour and common failure mechanisms, followed by practical methods for cable testing, diagnostics and fault location.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand MV/HV cable construction, insulation systems and accessories
- Recognise common cable fault types and failure mechanisms
- Perform insulation, withstand, VLF and sheath tests
- Apply tan delta and partial discharge diagnostics
- Pre-locate and pinpoint cable faults using the right technique
- Plan an effective fault-location strategy and interpret results
